When rescued from the horse meat buyers, Tinkerbell was thin and frightened, with a hoof that had been maimed by the cruel ropes at horse tripping events. Her coat was coming off in clumps from poor nutrition and she trusted no one. Just the type of horse Equus loves to help. With time, patience and good care, what we call the Equus Makeover, Tinkerbell has turned into a beautiful and healthy equine. At one time Tinkerbell must have been someones well cared for and beloved family member. But like many horses in our disposable culture, Tinkerbell ended up being sold over and over until she hit bottom with the killer buyers. This is Tinkerbell's tragedy and her legacy. This most precious being lost her station in life- what we humans like to call performance- and almost lost her life because of it.

Now Tinkerbell can educate the public about what happens to horses who can no longer perform and therefore leave a legacy for generations to come. Hopefully that legacy will be a kinder world for horses, be they perfect or not so perfect.

And here is Tinkerbell healthy, happy and surrounded by her many two and
four-legged friends, showing off her silky coat at our sanctuary.
