They call it the "last ride" because it is. These
horses are headed to a horrific death. Horses are crammed into
trailers, often shipped for 24 hours without adequate food, water
or rest. Transporters often use double-decker trailers designed
for other species. There is not adequate height for a horse to
hold its head erect for the duration of the trip. Many horses
suffer grave injury or death due to steep ramp inclines which
provoke panic, falls and trampling.

It's not just about changing the way the horses are moved; it's
about where they're being taken and how they die. There is no
nice way to slaughter horses for human consumption. Write your
congressional representative about banning horse slaughter for
human consumption and to change the way horses are transported.
